During the papermaking pulping process, various impurities inevitably mix into the pulp, such as sand, dust, adhesives, plastic flakes, and metal shavings. If these impurities are not removed, they will form black spots and wet patches on the paper surface, severely affecting the paper’s whiteness, smoothness, and physical strength. A low density cleaner is the key device for solving this problem. It utilizes the principle of centrifugal separation to efficiently remove various fine impurities under conditions of low pulp concentration.
The term “low density” cleaner refers to its optimal performance at lower pulp concentrations. Depending on the equipment type and process section, the ideal feed pulp concentration is generally between 0.3% and 1.5%.
It primarily handles the following:
Heavy impurities: gravel, glass shards, iron filings, ink particles, black dust, yellow dust, etc.
Light impurities: foam, gas, adhesives, paraffin wax, hot melt adhesive, plastic flakes, etc.
It is worth emphasizing that the low density cleaner can also effectively remove light impurities such as foam and gas; this is sometimes referred to as a “light and heavy impurity desander” in some sources.
